Time for self-care - The boss can wait! Now it's my turn.

We've all been there: the email to the boss has to go out today, the half-finished presentation actually went out yesterday, the family is hungry and waiting for lunch and the smartphone is ringing again. You do your best every day and master the balancing act between working from home and homeschooling. Add to that the daily news about the coronavirus and you find yourself falling into a state of anxiety and panic.

There's not much time for yourself, is there? But you should focus on your own well-being , especially now, and press the "slow down" button. The magic word is "self-care". It's not a short-lived trend, but an important part of our modern, hectic lives. Would you like to bring more self-care into your life for your sustainable and holistic health? Before you plan your self-care moment, it helps to understand what self-care actually means and why it is so important. You can find out all about this in this article - from valuable tips and some self-care whispers from our Am Tannenhäuschen to a fantastic self-care challenge that you should definitely do, because now it's your turn!

That means "self-care":

Self-care translates as self-care or self-care. The German-Swiss psychoanalyst Prof. Dr Joachim Küchenhoff summarises the meaning as follows: "Self-care means the ability to treat oneself well, to be good to oneself, to protect oneself and look after oneself, to consider one's own needs, to assess burdens correctly, not to overburden oneself or to remain sensitive to excessive demands. "*

This means taking care of yourself consciously and mindfully. How? That's up to you and could be a good book, a hot bath, a yoga session or a weekend with us at the Waldhotel Tannenhäuschen. The most important thing, however, is that you listen to your inner self and do exactly what is good for you.

Do you like to celebrate birthdays and Christmas?

I have to admit that I always look forward to birthdays in particular and public holidays in general, such as Christmas or Easter. Could you do without such days? But surely not your spa weekends, right? Whatever your highlights are, wellness breaks and public holidays are rituals. Of course I love the festivities because my family is together, there's special food...and because I know what to expect. A feeling of safety, security and anticipation make these rituals special for us. They are an important step towards mindfully and consciously looking after yourself. They slow down our busy and digitalised everyday lives and allow us to focus on the really important things in life.

Let's talk briefly about the meaning of the word. The term "ritual" comes from Latin and describes an action that follows a predetermined structure. This structure triggers a pleasant, positive feeling in you. However, rituals don't just take place annually or monthly. You can also create rituals daily, every weekend or at irregular intervals. It is something very personal and everyone has a different intention behind it, so you should create your own rhythm.

A new challenge awaits you.

With the Self Care Challenge and a little wellness magic, you can finally make time for yourself and your well-being. It often seems impossible to leave everything behind. Nothing is impossible and a few minutes for yourself will work wonders!

The Self Care Challenge will relax you, inspire you and have a positive impact on your health.

Use your "Me Time" wisely!

Everyone needs a break from time to time and now I'll tell you how you can fill it with self-care. Goodbye couch and television! I would like to share my top self-care moments with you and hope that they will motivate you to try something different for yourself. All the tips have one thing in common: they will definitely lead to more mindfulness in your life.

#1: Morning or evening routine

A routine in the morning and/or evening is a good opportunity to create patterns that provide security and help to clear your mind. For example, I drink a warm glass of water with lemon every morning and start the day with a short workout. Evening routines are also helpful to calm your thoughts, sleep better and wake up more refreshed the next morning.

#2: Read

Let yourself be inspired and create a moment of peace. It doesn't matter what you read. Choose something that interests you and lets you escape the daily grind.

#3: Exercise

Daily exercise is simply life-changing, especially since most of us spend a lot of our time sitting in front of a screen. You can create a real self-care moment by working out. It's not about going to the gym 6 times a week for hours on end or starting a weight loss programme. Find out what is good for you and what makes you feel better. Sometimes just 30 minutes of yoga, a 15-minute workout at home, a bike ride or a walk in the fresh air can work wonders.

#4: Soul food

A balanced and varied diet has a huge impact on your health. Dishes with lots of fruit, vegetables, good fats and unprocessed products give you energy and a soothing feeling. Take the time to try something new, cook your favourite meal or bake something sweet. Cooking can have an extremely calming effect and the result is enjoyable.

#5: Go offline

Simply put your mobile phone to one side and switch off devices such as your laptop and tablet. We are always available, constantly informed and often stressed. We arrange to meet for dinner via WhatsApp. If we want to know something, we ask Google. Social media is used for inspiration and networking. Use the hours just for yourself. You'll be amazed at how much more time you suddenly have for other enjoyable things, how your body winds down and relaxes.

#6: Bath

A soothing, hot bath can be a wonderful self-care moment. A little wellness break at home provides relaxation and pampering. With bath additives and the right ambience, you can create your own personal oasis of well-being.

#7: Sleep

Get plenty of restful sleep! Your body does a lot and can regenerate while you sleep. Getting a good night's sleep is pure self-care! That feeling of simply feeling good: getting up fresh and rested in the morning, being more balanced, physically fit and mentally relaxed. It also recharges your energy levels.

Whether it's your boss, work colleagues, family or friends - everyone can wait for you. Press the "relax" button more often and take time for yourself.

If the button no longer works and you get lost in the stress of everyday life again: Come to us at the Tannenhäuschen and we will provide you with an all-round pampering programme.
