Christmas magic since 1434 - 1st Striezelmarkt in Dresden

Have you ever "striezelt"? That's what the people of Dresden call the cosy stroll through the Striezelmarkt, Germany's oldest Christmas market. Every year, the Altmarkt is transformed into a winter wonderland - with arts and crafts from the Ore Mountains, Herrnhut stars and the famous Dresden Christmas stollen. Over 200 stalls offer everything your heart desires. A highlight for many is the world's largest step pyramid, and the walk-in candle arch adds even more Christmas flair. Another classic is the Pflaumentoffel, a sweet figurine made from prunes - perfect as a souvenir . Romantics enjoy the Ferris wheel with a view over the festively illuminated market hustle and bustle.

After a great day, you can reach the mightyTwice Hotel Dresden in the Neustadt district in 30 minutes by tram. Enjoy a tea or drink at the "BeatBar" and relax at the end of the day.

Magic lights on Schlossplatz - 2nd shooting star market Wiesbaden

The shooting star market in Wiesbaden is a real highlight of the Advent season. The Schlossplatz square shines in festive splendour, with golden lilies - the symbol of Wiesbaden - and an impressive Christmas tree that sparkles with 250 golden bows and 30,000 LED lights. More than 130 stalls offer everything from arts and crafts to regional treats and Christmas gifts. The giant nativity scene in front of the town hall is a real highlight. For children, there is a gnome forest and a mobile children's railway.

When the smell of mulled wine and freshly baked waffles wafts through the streets, the Christmas atmosphere is instant.
