Get your bags, get set, go... - Beach holidays are a thing of the past! I'm off to the mountains.

Another word for sport? INZELL. Isn't that the beautiful holiday resort in the Chiemgau Alps? Yes, that's right and nowhere else in Bavaria are people as fit as here. There's something to do in every season: cross-country and downhill skiing, speed skating, swimming, hiking, mountaineering, biking, exploring the mountain forest, visiting the alpine pastures, cycling, climbing or golfing. Inzell is the sporty family village par excellence and at the same time offers great opportunities for exploration , adventure and outdoor activities in a natural paradise.

Whatever the season, whatever the weather, whether alone, as a couple or with the family, Inzell and the entire Chiemgau Alps have so much to offer that it wouldn't all fit into a single holiday. Activities keep you busy all day long. I think it's the breathtaking mountains - the high, rugged ones and the gentle, wide ones - that keep us coming back for more. Of course, you can also just put your feet up in Inzell, unwind, stretch out in the meadow, count the fleecy clouds and simply relax. One thing is certain, you can look forward to a wonderful and varied holiday. And so that you can plan your time out in the mountains even better in advance, let's talk about my favourite activities in Inzell in this article.

Flip flops or hiking boots?

Put on your hiking boots and set off to discover the most beautiful summit views and enjoy the dreamlike alpine pastures of the Chiemgau Alps, dotted with wonderfully fragrant mountain herbs. The holiday resort is located in a sunny, open valley, surrounded by mountains with friendly mountain hut hosts who are always up for a chat and will spoil you with their local delicacies. The hiking trails offer plenty of fun for young and old. You can choose from challenging alpine tours to child-friendly hiking trails with animal highlights such as alpacas. You will encounter a fantastic natural soundscape with cowbell music and the buzzing of bees on every tour, providing an extra dose of relaxation. Hiking will clear your head and I promise you that you will say goodbye to all the exertion and your weaker self as soon as you reach the summit. A breathtaking view will suddenly make the effort fizzle out and pure happiness will spread through your body.

Pack your swimsuit.

You can cool off perfectly in the crystal-clear mountain lakes on hot summer days and enjoy complete tranquillity between the peaks and valleys. Or take advantage of this paradise for water sports enthusiasts . With its gentle waves, Lake Chiemsee offers ideal conditions for a wide variety of sports: sailing, surfing, kitesurfing, stand-up paddling, kayaking or canoeing. It is not called the "Bavarian Sea" for nothing. At the end of the day, you will be enchanted by a beautiful sunset. But your action side is not neglected either. Experience the ultimate adrenaline rush with a rafting tour on the Tiroler Ache.

Your bike is very welcome.

Chiemgau is one of the largest cycling and hiking areas in Germany. A network of around 1,200 kilometres of cycle paths offers flat stages around the lakes as well as strenuous tours up the mountains of the Alps. Especially on holiday, I love taking a relaxed bike ride, discovering the region and enjoying the picturesque landscape. This gives you the opportunity to get to know the holiday destination and its surroundings in a completely different way. The athletes among us will also have fun and should definitely get on a racing bike.

Put on your snowshoes and head up the mountain.

In winter, when thick white flakes trickle down from the sky, you definitely have a date with Mother Hulda in Inzell. The Winklmoosalm ski paradise is not far away by bus or car. For a change, the ski areas are just as ideal for tobogganing as they are for cross-country skiing. You don't have to choose between a quiet or active winter time. A winter hike and a cosy get-together in a mountain hut invite you to be active. Exercise in the cold winter air, followed by a crackling fire, a warm drink and twinkling lights slow you down and are a real treat for the mind. Little guests are particularly welcome at our hotel Das Bergmayr. The proximity to the Kesselalm lifts makes your winter holiday with children a real pleasure. The little ski bunnies can practise perfectly on the flat pistes and proudly master their first plough turns.

As much as I love lying on the beach, doing nothing and sizzling in the sun, I have to say that the Chiemgau Alps have cast a spell over me. I would love to pack my suitcase right now and dive straight into the mountain world of the Chiemgau Alps. Do you also fancy a great break away from everyday life in this incredibly beautiful and diverse holiday region? Cancelled your beach holiday and booked a holiday in the mountains - maybe we'll see you there!
