Autumn time is pumpkin time! - Bring autumn into the kitchen

Autumn is the time for pumpkins! These versatile fruits are not only a popular symbol of the season, but also a great ingredient for a variety of dishes. While the classic pumpkin soup is a much-cooked dish, there are many other delicious ways to use pumpkin in the kitchen. In this blog post, I'll introduce you to some of my favourite modern pumpkin recipes that are both delicious and easy to prepare. Let yourself be inspired and bring the taste of autumn into your kitchen!

My favourite recipes

Pumpkin risotto

A creamy pumpkin risotto is a wonderful way to bring the flavours of autumn to your plate. Start by sautéing the onions and garlic in a little olive oil. Add the rice and fry briefly. Gradually pour in the vegetable stock and pureed pumpkin (e.g. Hokkaido) until the rice is al dente. Finish the risotto with Parmesan cheese, fresh sage and a squeeze of lemon juice for a fresh flavour.

Pumpkin pasta

Pumpkin goes perfectly with pasta and adds a sweet, savoury note to dishes. Cook your favourite pasta and prepare a sauce of pureed pumpkin, cream, garlic and parmesan. Mix the sauce with the pasta and garnish the dish with toasted pumpkin seeds and fresh basil. A simple but elegant dish that is perfect for dinner with friends.

Pumpkin quiche

A savoury pumpkin quiche is ideal for brunch or as a light supper. Mix cooked pumpkin with eggs, cream, feta and fresh spinach. Pour the mixture into a pre-baked quiche base and bake in the oven until the filling has set. This quiche is not only delicious, but also a great way to creatively utilise leftovers.

Pumpkin curry with coconut milk

A warming pumpkin curry is perfect for cold days. Start by sautéing onions, garlic and ginger in a pan. Add diced pumpkin, chickpeas and a tin of coconut milk. Season with curry powder, cumin and a little chilli for heat. Simmer the curry until the pumpkin is soft and serve with fresh coriander and basmati rice.

Autumn time in the Black Forest

When the days get shorter and the temperatures drop, many people are drawn out into nature. At this time of year, the Black Forest not only offers a wonderful backdrop for hikes, but also a perfect opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature. The leaves on the trees change colour and the scent of fresh foliage and damp earth fills the air. It's the ideal time to explore the numerous hiking trails that lead from rolling hills to dramatic gorges. So pack your hiking boots and set off to experience the beauties of autumn!

Hey, I'm ...

Anja is an absolute bookworm who never leaves the house without a book. She prefers to stay cosy in her hobby cave in the Black Forest and likes to immerse herself in other worlds in films and series. When the part-time photographer isn't jumping around at various weddings at the weekend, she also enjoys dancing to live music, from black metal to punk to good old rock, which in her opinion is also wonderfully compatible with her life as a passionate Swiftie.
